To measure your space and choose the exact blocks you need, imagine physically walking from one end of your run of blocks to the other. Start with a start block, then block sections, then right or left turn, and so on, until you reach the end. Cap it with an end block unless it's part of a loop.
Tip: the male connector end is always forward as you walk your section from beginning to end.
